A platform where 16-30 year-old writers, artists and culture-makers can find a voice, interact and communicate with like (and unlike)-minded people. We believe that all views exist to be challenged. That there’s no right answer to most questions. That culture should be constantly re-examined, re-defined and re-created. We believe that it should be real people doing this, not companies and marketing executives. We believe youth culture is real and important, and yet indefinable and unknowable. It is the journey that matters, not the destination.  

Vibewire.net is as vital and dynamic as the people involved. It is the creation of literally hundreds of people who have contributed in ways big and small to its conception, creation and evolution. It is the volunteer contributors, editors, developers and coordinators who are the site’s lifeblood, and it is they who will ensure the site remains driven by its original mission. What is this mission? To be the most representative and inclusive online forum for Australia's youth - a community where young people access resources, engage in cultural discourse, and empower themselves. To do this we must remain resolutely non-partisan, facilitating the expression of those who use the site without ever seeking to push them towards a particular point of view or philosophy, and in this way creating new and vibrant conversations on the substance of our lives, be it music, film, theatre, school, politics, health, zines, art and more. 

Since the site launched in 2002 we have published over 4,000 articles all written by young Australians, placed young people on the election trail and in the budget lock-up, promoted the best of youth creative writing and poetry, hosted innovative youth conversations and projects and been recognised with national and international awards.
